Overwhelmed

streams run down my face
as i just lay here
feeling as blue as the sky i see
outside this foggy window
just me and my thoughts
passing by like clouds
some holding heavier weight than others
and some as light as the breeze
i cry from time to time
not due to a feeling of sadness or despair
just feeling the weight of the world
over my shoulders
a message
that life doesn’t stop for anyone
not even for me
overwhelming me with many questions
“how do i continue?”
“how do i slow down?”
“how do i become all i’m meant to be?”
tears fall to water new roots
i tell myself
why is the path in front of me
more difficult?
i ask
“it’s because your calling is greater”
the earth tells me
i see myself in the trees
the fields of grass
that dry out so constantly
yet become full again
a pattern so familiar
in everything around me
in everything inside of me
tears fall to water new roots
a reminder
that i too
shall bloom
again
