"Disconnected" is a painting made with acrylics, created in 2022 as a part of her "Yin-Yang Collection." Ibarra was going through a very dark confusing time during the birth of this painting. The girl you see on the piece is a reference painted of herself. As you see in the painting, there is also a string attaching her to the moon, this represents her feeling as isolated and alone as the moon looks up in the sky. There was a sense of deep agony that was occurring to Ibarra during this time and she released the painting with the poem attached below:
disconnected
mourning
parts of myself
i don't understand
the world around me keeps changing
i feel nothing
looking at the moon so full
yet so vacant
i empathize with her
sometimes i wonder if she feels appreciated
up there all alone
does she know how much she is admired
from this point of view
i see myself in her
carrying the weight of the world around me
going through phases of feeling
full — radiant
transitioning to the smallest slivers of light
“where have you gone”
i ask myself
there’s no response
but i cling on to the smallest hope in life
how do i get out of this space?
the only way out is to go through
so i sit here
in stillness
emptiness on my chest
sit and surrender
the disconnection will all make sense later
i tell myself
it’s ok
feel alone
